Critical Care Nephrology Symposium

Symposium: Critical Care Nephrology

The ICU–Nephrology Symposium focuses on contemporary issues in critical care nephrology and continuous kidney replacement therapy (CKRT), addressing the expanding role of nephrologists in the management of critically ill patients with complex hemodynamic, metabolic, and multi-organ support needs. Educational content includes approaches to hemodynamic monitoring, fluid selection and de-escalation strategies, management of AKI in liver disease, CKRT dosing and anticoagulation strategies, complications of extracorporeal therapies, hemoadsorption, and integration of CKRT with ECMO and other advanced organ support modalities. Sessions are delivered by nationally recognized experts and emphasize practical clinical decision-making, CKRT program development, and real-world implementation. This field of therapy is rapidly evolving and has significant patient outcome implications.

This course will be taught by Drs. Luis Juncos with FMC & UAMS, Arnaldo Lopez-Ruiz with AdventHealth Orlando, Michael Connor with Emory, Juan Carlos Velez with Ochsner Health, Lenar “Leo” Yessayan with the University of Michigan, and Nithin Karakala, Hunter Holthoff and Fatima Ayub, all with UAMS.
